Dr. Miguel Roth, director, Carnegie Las Campanas Observatory in Chile. The lecture is for non-experts, and will discuss his work on two major processes that enrich the interstellar medium: supernovae and planetary nebulae (PNs). The night sky in Chile is special and spectacular -- on a moonless night, the stars are bright enough to create shadows.
