Friday, January 8, 2010 10:00to11:00

In this episode of Mini-Science, broadcast on the Canal Savoir TV station, Prof. Matt Dobbs will outline the field of cosmology - the quest to understand the birth, evolution, and fate of the universe as a whole. He will summarize the evidence for the Big Bang, and focus on measurements of the relic after-glow of the Big Bang, called the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation.

To Infinity and Beyond: Space, Stars & the Universe brings you the latest in space exploration by top UUÖ±²¥ researchers and alumnus in this unique multi-disciplinary lecture series. The topic of Mini-Science 2009 is particularly appropriate – the United Nations having proclaimed 2009 the International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009) in commemoration of the first astronomical use of the telescope in 1609.
