Living Gestures is a multi-media concert presentation featuring聽the聽Montreal-based performing ensemble, Chora Carmina. It was聽inspired by a solitary children's game in which the forest becomes an echo chamber where one comes to know oneself as a function of one's relationship to an enduring homeland by engaging in a dialogue with the reverberation of one's own voice. The game personifies the plein air artistic movement which shaped the voice of many visual artists from northern countries. This magical聽multi-media concert presentation merges, blends, and juxtaposes paintings and music, not to fold or collapse one art form into the other, but to enrich our understanding of echo and its relationship to memory, time, place, and the transformative powers of art by revealing the multi-sensory modalities through which we experience it.
