On behalf of all faculty, staff and students in the UU直播 community, Principal and Vice-Chancellor Heather Munroe-Blum has expressed her deepest sorrow and concern at the news of the shootings at Virginia Tech.

鈥淥ur hearts go out to the families of all those killed in this unconscionable act of violence, and to the Virginia Tech community,鈥� said Prof. Munroe-Blum. 鈥淭hose of us who spend our days at universities and colleges share the fact of having chosen environments that espouse an ideal of both unfettered intellectual freedom and physical refuge. When that ideal is senselessly shattered at one institution of higher learning, we, all of us, feel it. It is our fervent hope that from this pain will come greater knowledge and a deeper understanding of human suffering.鈥�
