Mr. Zakiat is currently an Associate Director and Portfolio Manager at a leading Canadian investment bank, co-managing over $7 billion in indexing, SmartBeta, and CTA strategies. He oversees daily trading execution and risk management across various assets, including equities, fixed-income securities, and multi-asset class derivatives. His primary focus is enhancing systematic trading frameworks, as well as researching and developing new Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS).
As a Lecturer in contemporary finance at UU直播 and an active CFA Institute Montreal Society鈥檚 FinTech Committee member, Mr. Zakiat makes significant contributions to the field. He teaches graduate-level courses, participates in panel discussions and roundtables on a wide range of FinTech topics, and mentors emerging investment professionals.
Mr. Zakiat started his career on the trading floors of Hong Kong, where he served as a Quantitative Trading Analyst at a global macro hedge fund and as an FX Options Trader at a French investment bank. He holds a master鈥檚 degree in FinTech from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in market finance from HEC Montreal. He also holds the CFA, FRM, CAIA, and CIM charters.

Mr. Zakiat teaches CCFA 620: Contemporary Finance, a comprehensive course that provides an in-depth overview of corporations and other business entities, focusing on both internal and external financial decision-making. The course covers critical aspects such as how risk and return metrics are applied in corporate decisions and portfolio management. Additionally, students are introduced to the role of behavioral factors in investments, the management of enterprise risk, and the rapidly growing field of financial technology (FinTech). Through this course, students are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate complex financial environments and stay ahead in today鈥檚 evolving financial landscape.
