In October 2020, Dr Emily McDonald was appointed to the newly created position of Associate Chair, Quality and Safety, in the UU直播 Department of Medicine, effective November 1, 2020. Dr McDonald will focus on capacity building in Quality and Safety scholarship in close collaboration with internal and external Quality and Patient Safety programs to deliver on this important academic endeavor. Dr McDonald has a Masters in Epidemiology and completed a postgraduate research fellowship in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (Sunnybrook), followed by additional training in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health including methodology training in QI and implementation research. Dr McDonald will foster collaboration with key stakeholders across the UU直播 network, including patients and caregivers, allied health professionals and data scientists. Dr McDonald is a member of the Executive Committee of the Choosing Wisely Research Implementation Network and the Vice-President of Research and Quality Improvement for the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine.
