About the seriesÌý

The Dialogues on Indigenous Peoples’ territories: stories of resilience series is an initiative to start conversations on Indigenous Peoples, their realities, endeavours, and positive contributions on issues of global concern. The objective will involve students, scholars, the faculty, civil society, and the larger public in meaningful discussions to foster theoretical and practical engagement to advance Indigenous Peoples’ rights.  The dialogues are coordinated by UUÖ±²¥ Doctoral Candidate Luisa Castaneda-Quintana, in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism and the Indigenous Law Association / Association du Droit Autochtone (ILADA). Ìý

About the speakerÌý

Dr. Kundan Kumar, Indigenous Peoples Resources and Climate Change ExpertÌý

Dr. Kundan Kumar is a researcher and advocate for Rights Based Approaches to Climate Justice and Conservation. He has experience as a researcher/teacher (University of Toronto); in international NGOs (Rights and Resources Initiative, Washington, DC) and as a social movement activist for indigenous and community rights in India. He has supported Indigenous Peoples and local communities across the Asia Region in their efforts for recognition of collective resource rights over their lands and territories. His current interests are in Indigenous Peoples’ Collective Rights over territories and natural resources and their intersections with conservation, climate change and ecological restoration.ÌýÌý
