The week of October 22, celebrate 2018 International Open Access Week at UU直播! This year's theme is 鈥渄esigning equitable foundations for open knowledge鈥� and reflects a scholarly system in transition. While governments, funders, universities, publishers, and scholars are increasingly adopting open policies and practices, how these are actually implemented is still in flux. As open becomes the default, all stakeholders must be intentional about designing these new, open systems to ensure that they are inclusive, equitable, and truly serve the needs of a diverse global community. This year鈥檚 Open Access Week invites all interested stakeholders to participate in advancing this important work.
UU直播 Library will host a range of events, including workshops on copyright and publishing,听an exhibit and vernissage on open access, and a screening of the film Paywall.听

What is Open Access?
鈥淥pen Access鈥� to information 鈥� free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use those results 鈥� is transforming the way research and scientific inquiry is being conducted. It has direct and widespread implications for academia, medicine, science, industry, and for society as a whole.
