Violinist Violaine Melançon to teach at Schulich in 2017-2018

The Schulich School of Music is delighted to announce thatÌýviolinistÌýViolaine Melançon has been namedÌýVisiting Professor for the 2017-2018Ìýseason. Ìý

An artist deeply dedicated to the range of violin and chamber music repertoire, violinist Violaine Melançon serves on the violin and chamber music faculties of the Peabody Conservatory (), and is Visiting Professor at the Schulich School of Music at UUÖ±²¥.

ÌýProf. Melançon, who is excited to be coming to the school saysÌýÌý"Sometimes, the stars line up and create a perfect moment to seize an opportunity. Being asked to join the Schulich School of Music’s Faculty as Visiting Professor came at a perfect moment of transition in my life. I am looking very much forward to devote my time and ears to 10 wonderful students starting in the fall of 2017. UUÖ±²¥ has always been a school I had my eye on, hoping that one day a collaboration would become possible,Ìýand voilà- the opportunity hasÌýhappened!" ÌýÌý

She wasÌýfor thirty years the founding violinist of the Naumberg Award winning Peabody Trio which was ensemble-in-residence at the Peabody Conservatory from 1987 to 2016.Ìý Since winning the Prix d’Europe in 1984, her activities as a chamber musician, soloist with orchestras, and teacher have taken her to major music centers all over the world. ÌýWe look forward to having her join the Schulich School of Music this fall.
