NECMT Annual Meeting hosted by UU直播 this month

This month UU直播 is hosting the 34th Annual Meeting of the New England Conference of Music Theorists (NECMT) 鈥 the first time the event has ever been held in Montreal. NECMT鈥檚 main purpose is to foster the development of music theory, and provide a forum for exchanging ideas between music theorists.

World Hearing Day at the UU直播 Schulich School of Music: Presentation of the Hearing-Care Platform

Andrew Crust named Assistant Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra

Memorial Tribute for Dr. Daryl Robert Gibson

In honour of his passing on October 31, 2018, the family is planning a remembrance on February 17, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. (Evensong service) at Christ Church Cathedral (635 Saint-Catherine St. W.). At the request of the family, donations may be made in his name to St. Mary鈥檚 Hospital Cancer Care Fund.

Richard Stoelzel: new Interim Music Director of the Lakeshore Concert Band

In a recent email exchange, Prof. Stoelzel writes, "I have had the pleasure of conducting the LCB as a guest conductor in numerous rehearsals and in concert. Alexander Freund: Never Stop Learning

As doctoral trumpet student Alexander Freund (D.Mus, year 3) puts it, an essential part of being an artist is the 鈥渘ever-ending search for growth.鈥 In Freund鈥檚 case, this search led him to a long association with the M5 Mexican Brass and a teaching position for 11 years at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, Michoac谩n.
