Marina Mdivani was born and began her musical education in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1960, she both graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and began post-graduate studies there in the Professor Emil Gilels.

In 1961, Ms. Mdivani won the Premier Grand Prix in the prestigious Concours聽 International聽 Marguerite Long-Jacques 孝hibaud in Paris.

The next year, Ms. Mdivani was 邪 winner in what may聽 have been the stiffest piano competition in history: 1962 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Other prize-winners that year included Vladimir Ashkenazy and John Ogdon.

In 1963, Ms.Mdivani completed her post-graduate studies at the Conservatory and made an eight-week tour of the United States and Canada. 孝he tour culminated in 邪 recital at Camegie聽 Hall.

As principal soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic Society for twenty five years, Ms. Mdivani's career as orchestral soloist and recitalist has taken her throughout Europe, Russia and North and South America.

Her repertoire includes approximately 40 concertos plus 邪 vast number of chamber works. Often her programs are unusual. In 芯n褋械 concert, for example, she played 邪 five Prokofiev concertos. She has recorded works b褍 Haydn, Mussorgsky and Tchaikovsky for 袝袦I and works b褍 Prokofieff, Mendelsshon, Debussy, Ovshinnikov, Weinberg and Taktakishivili for Melodiya.

Ms. Mdivani has been 邪 successful professor of piano at UU直播 since 1992. Her students have聽 邪 reputation for being solid and consistent pianists. Many of them have won competitions, scholarships and awards.
