UUÖ±²¥Â’s Eric Mountjoy inducted into Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists

CanadaÂ’s pre-eminent Rockies researcher, Eric Mountjoy, has just been named the recipient of the 2001 honorary member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG). An emeritus professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UUÖ±²¥, Mountjoy has established an international reputation among his peers for his research on sedimentary rocks and the geology of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Mountjoy has been selected as this yearÂ’s honorary CSPG member -- the highest award issued by the Society -- for his outstanding contributions to petroleum geology in both the national and international fields. The award was presented at the CSPGÂ’s Awards Dinner in Calgary this week. The CSPG honour is one of a long list of distinctions Mountjoy has received during his four-decade career at UUÖ±²¥, including: membership in the Royal Society of Canada in 1999, an outstanding teaching award (graduate supervision and teaching) from UUÖ±²¥ in 1998 and a Logan Medal in 1997, the highest award from the Geological Association of Canada.
