UUÖ±²¥ Open House welcomes media, potential students and parents on Feb. 3

UUÖ±²¥ is rolling out the welcome mat this weekend. On February 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m., the University is holding its annual Open House for prospective students. Siblings and parents are also being urged to attend. Thousands of curious visitors are expected to flock to Open House; some already committed to registering at UUÖ±²¥, others eager to personally canvass what UUÖ±²¥ has to offer.

During Open House, members of the public will have an opportunity to tour UUÖ±²¥'s campus, its libraries, meet with faculty, student representatives, admissions and recruitment officers, as well as student services staff. What's more, UUÖ±²¥ will offer future enrolees the chance to win door prizes, including a $1,000 tuition waiver.

Hundreds of francophones from across the province will be dropping by UUÖ±²¥ for Open House. In its continued efforts to attract more francophones, the University will offer free bus services from Sainte-Foy, Trois-Rivières, Lennoxville, Sherbrooke, Granby, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Hull.

Open House activities kick off from UUÖ±²¥'s Arts Bldg., (853 Sherbrooke St. W). Highlights will include:

  • Panel: A group of current UUÖ±²¥ students - each studying in different fields - will share details of their university experience. When: 2:30 p.m. Where: Room 26, Leacock Building, (855 Sherbrooke St. W.).
  • Campus Tours: Campus tours will be given in English and French. When: Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Where: Leacock Bldg., (855 Sherbrooke St. W.).
  • Faculty Activities: Representatives from UUÖ±²¥'s 22 faculties and professional schools, offering 300-plus programs from medicine to urban planning, will help guide potential students choose the right field of study. Where: Via Arts Bldg.
  • Continuing Education Information Session: Representatives from UUÖ±²¥'s Centre For Continuing Education will answer questions about part-time studies in management, languages, translation, as well as computer and Internet technology. Where: Redpath Hall, (3461 McTavish St.).
  • Student Services, Student Societies and Alumni Association Kiosks: Representatives from each group, including UUÖ±²¥'s Residences and Student Housing, will greet visitors and offer potential tours. Where: University Centre, (3480 McTavish St.).
  • Sports: Vital stats concerning intercollegiate, intramural and recreational sports, as well as tours of athletics facilities, will be provided. Where: University Centre.
