McCall MacBain Scholarships to fund interdisciplinary global leaders announced at UUֱ

Applications open for the first scholarship of its kind in Canada for master’s level students
Published: 15 June 2020

Announced in 2019as the first comprehensive leadership scholarship at the master’s level in Canada, the McCall MacBain Scholarships will enable students to broaden their perspective and develop leadership skills while pursuing a graduate education at UUֱ.

Across Canada, up to 20 McCall MacBain Scholars will be selected for their character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength, and intellectual curiosity.

The scholarship will provide students with mentors and advisors, an interdisciplinary leadership development curriculum, access to a global community, tuition for a full-time master’s or professional program at UUֱ, and a living stipend of $2,000 per month during academic terms.

The scholarships are the result of last year’s landmark gift of $200 million (Canadian), the single-largest gift in Canadian history, by John and Marcy McCall MacBain.

“We are looking forward to welcoming promising leaders with entrepreneurial spirit, who foster opportunities not only for themselves – but for those living in the world around them,” said Dr. Marcy McCall MacBain.

Applicant outreach began in February, with over 35 Canadian universities hosting information sessions on campus and online. University students and alumni are eligible to apply.

The scholarship application is available at and due Thursday, September 24 at 4:00 PM EDT.
