The Walrus and UU直播 return to the Segal Centre

The Walrus Foundation, UU直播, the Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas (IPLAI) and the Segal Centre are pleased to present the inaugural Walrus UU直播 Talks at the Segal Centre on April 3, 2012. The Talks continue the partnership that began with last year鈥檚 sold-out Walrus UU直播 Debate at the Segal Centre, and will feature well-known thinkers, each giving short talks on The Art of Cultural Diversity.

Our speakers will speak on various aspects of cultural diversity in Montreal鈥攁nd in Quebec as a whole鈥攁nd will include: Jenny Burman (Art History and Communication Studies, UU直播), Cameron Charlebois (Canada Lands Company), Anne Lagac茅 Dowson (broadcaster, and President and Director General of the Tolerance Foundation), Maurice Forget (Fasken Martineau), Manon Gauthier (Segal Centre), Nantali Indongo (Nomadic Massive), Anne-Marie Jean (Culture Montr茅al), Eric M鈥橞oua (Diversit茅 Artistique Montr茅al), Noah Richler (author and broadcaster), and Will Straw (UU直播 Institute of the Study of Canada).

鈥淎s publishers of Canada鈥檚 best magazine, it鈥檚 important for us to bring discussion from the page to the stage to promote public participation in issues relevant to Canadians,鈥 said Shelley Ambrose, co-publisher of The Walrus and executive director of the charitable, non-profit Walrus Foundation. 鈥淚n any multicultural, multilingual city with a robust arts community, this kind of conversation is crucial, and we鈥檙e thrilled to bring these Talks to Montreal to discuss the achievements and challenges of cultural diversity in one of the world鈥檚 best cities,鈥 added Ambrose.
