Volcanic CO2 emissions helped trigger Triassic climate change

A new study finds volcanic activity played a direct role in triggering extreme climate change at the end of the Triassic period 201 million year ago, wiping out almost half of all existing species. The amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere from these volcanic eruptions is comparable to the amount of CO2 expected to be produced by all human activity in the 21st century.

UU直播 researchers help create COVID-19 Resources Canada

聽UU直播 announced it has joined the network of senior researchers, students, and web developers, in the launch of the national COVID-19 Resources Canada portal, a central hub designed to help those involved in COVID-19 R&D in Canada to locate expertise and equipment in a timely manner. Since launching, over 1,800 volunteers have already signed up via the portal to help in the fight against COVID-19.

The placebo effect and psychedelic drugs: tripping on nothing?

There has been a lot of recent interest in the use of psychedelic drugs to treat depression. A new study from UU直播 suggests that, in the right context, some people may experience psychedelic-like effects from placebos alone. The researchers reported some of the strongest placebo effects (these are effects from 鈥渇ake鈥 medication) on consciousness in the literature relating to psychedelic drugs.
