MEDIA ADVISORY: UUÖ±²¥ prepares to put together biggest fruit salad ever

Colossal 11,000-pound fruit salad will benefit Montreal charities

The UUÖ±²¥ community will attempt to break a Guinness World Record on Tuesday, August 28 by creating an 11,000Ìýpound fruit salad – the largest fruit salad in the world, over 60 per cent of which is destined to charity organizations.

A celebration of community engagement, sustainable practices and healthy eating, the green-certified challenge will bring together more than 250 volunteers from across campus to prepare and chop more than 5,000 pounds of watermelon, 1,300 pounds of cantaloupe, 1,000 pounds of honeydew, 2,250 pounds of pineapple, 220 pounds of apples and 360 pounds of strawberries, among other fruits. More than 50 per cent of the fruit will be harvested from UUÖ±²¥â€™s own Macdonald campus to minimize the carbon footprint.
