Spotlight on Dr. Jaswant Guzder
Please join the Department of Psychiatry in congratulating Dr. Jaswant Guzder for being the well-deserved recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her outstanding contributions to UU直播 and to the community at large!
Dr. Guzder is an Associate Professor in the UU直播 Department of Psychiatry, the Head of Child Psychiatry and Director of Child Day Treatment at the Jewish General Hospital, and an Adjunct professor in the UU直播 Faculty of Social Work. She continues to serve as a senior consultant with the Cultural Consultation Service at the Jewish General Hospital. She is also a psychoanalyst and supervisor for the Art Therapy masters program at Concordia University. Dr. Guzder worked in Mumbai, India from 1980 to 1984. Her child and family practice in Montreal is multicultural and has graduate students working with South Asian and Caribbean populations.聽
Dr. Guzder is also active in the Child and Transcultural Psychiatry Divisions. She is on the Global Health Committee of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Editorial Board of Transcultural Psychiatry. Her research collaborations have focused on the etiology of borderline personality disorder in adults and borderline pathology in childhood and outcomes for high risk children involving neuropsychological risk, parental, family, and trauma factors. Her collaborations in transcultural psychiatry include work with Mental Health Commission of Canada (Diversity Steering Committee), the Teasdale Corti Global Health Project, research on immigrant youth and children and training visits to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Jamaica, Israel and Turkey.
