FAQ’s for Students Applying to the Summer Program for Academic Credit

²Ï.ÌýDo I need to take the Graduate Record Exams (GREs) to apply to the Summer Program for academic credit?
A.ÌýNo.Ìý If you have GRE score and wish to send them, you may, however they are not required.

²Ï.ÌýWhen will I learn if I have been accepted into the Summer Program for academic credit?
A.ÌýApplicants are notified of the department’s recommendation as soon as possible after the semester’s application submission deadline.Ìý Final decisions about acceptance are made soon afterward by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral studies and decision letters are sent to applicants.

²Ï.ÌýWhen and how can I register on Minerva?
A.ÌýRegistration begins in mid-March. Please go toÌýwww.mcgill.ca/students/courses/add/Ìýfor more information.

²Ï.ÌýWhat happens if I fail a course?
A.ÌýStudents who receive a failing grade (< 65%) have the following options. (i) Request a re-read of the original exam or assignment.Ìý (ii) Request permission from the course instructor to retake the exam or resubmit other course related materials. (iii) Retake the course. (iv) Take a replacement course. If a second failing grade is obtained, students must then withdraw from the program. The only exception to this is if the mark for the original exam is revised.
