The MSEG Root Crop Washer is a small-scale root crop (carrots, turnips etc.) washing machine that the organization uses to increase the efficiency and efficacy of the produce cleaning process while decreasing the amount of physical exertion required. Along with a reduction in air and noise pollution, the new equipment will be safer for the employees, who have responded enthusiastically to the change. Two students in separate labs will monitor the waste output of their work and extrapolate data to develop a model for waste segregation that can be applied to other labs in the future.
