Preparation for the first visit:聽

After completing the intake questionnaire, you will be contacted by the clinical research coordinator to schedule your first visit. There is nothing you need to do to prepare for your first visit, however, please remember to bring you Jewish General Hospital card and your Quebec Medicare (RAMQ) card with you on the day of the appointment.聽聽

*** Please note starting on July 1, 2024, we are currently not seeing patients until early to middle 2025. Please ensure that your doctor orders the appropriate imaging prior to your first appointment in 2025. ***

The first visit:聽

On the first visit, the doctor will review your medical and family history information, and provide a personalized risk assessment that includes your short-term and lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. You are welcome and encouraged to ask questions. A clinical breast exam will be performed, and you may also be recommended to schedule additional imaging, including mammogram, breast ultrasound, or breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the weeks/months after the visit.

Referrals for genetic counselling, smoking cessation, weight loss surgery, the hereditary gynaecologic surveillance clinic, and other screening specialists will be provided for appropriate candidates.聽 聽

After the first visit:聽

There is a possibility that you might need to schedule more appointments in the future. Many patients are followed in the clinic on an annual (one visit per year) or biannual basis (two visits per year).聽聽
