Extreme Research: Winter Edition
UU直播 experts face up to the cold!
What do robots, electric snowmobiles and seasonal affective disorder have in common? They are all topics being featured at UU直播's Extreme Research: Winter Edition event on February 15. This event will showcase UU直播's "cool" research about predicting, understanding and planning for winter weather and northern conditions.
Researchers will present their recent discoveries and innovations in the following areas:
- Extreme weather
- The winter wallop on our roads and bridges
- The Canadian Arctic and global warming
- Designing machines for extreme environments 鈥� including robots for de-icing planes 鈥� and UU直播's electric snowmobile!
- The special considerations for diet and nutrition in northern climates
- Seasonal affective disorder: when will the sun shine again?

When: Tuesday, February 15, 2005, 10:30 am
Where: Rendez-vous on the main campus in front of the Macdonald-Harrington Building, 815 Sherbrooke St. W., where we will launch the event. The venue for the presentations will depend 鈥� on the weather 鈥� but you can be assured it will be extremely interesting! Hot chocolate will be served.
