Description of Planned Activities
The project aims to respond to a need for qualified social workers in the Aboriginal communities of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Its main objectives are: 1- To design activities aimed at recruiting English-speaking Aboriginal students to the BSW; 2- To locate summer employment opportunities for these students in community organizations in the Val d'Or area; 3- To develop intercultural and bilingual professional development activities for personnel offering psycho-social services in English to Aboriginal clients in Val d'Or and Rouyn Noranda. The first two activities have taken place during 2005-06 and 06-07 of the project. The third activity was developed early in 2007 with implementation in fall 2007 and winter 2008. The project also provides supervision for students on placement at the Golden Valley School and retains a small amount of funding for student support.

Budget Allocation
