Schulich School of Music graduates and students shine at the 2017 Prix d'Europe
Many of our students and alumni performed very well at this year's Prix d'Europe competition. Felix Hong, BMus'16, ArtDip '17, wasawarded the2017 Prix d'Europe grand prizefrom l'Academie de musique du Québec. The prize has a cash value of $25,000 and has been awarded every year since 1911. Felix Hong is a piano student of Professor Ilya Poletaev.

Purdy passes the vocal torch to Smith Bessette

First there’s the skirl of the pipes, then Winston Purdy’s rich baritone rolls across the audience as he sings the University anthem, Hail, Alma Mater, to mark the beginning of almost every Convocation ceremony since 1999. That musical accompaniment has been a feature of decades of processions of students, faculty and families as they walk into the Convocation tent.
The Milton Quartet wins the Gold Medal & Grand Prize at the 2017 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
The Milton String Quartet, composed of Schulich School of Music students Roman Fraser, Maithéna Gireault, Evan Robinson andJoshua Morris,has won the Grand Prize and Senior String Division Gold Medal at the 44th Annual Fischoff Competition at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

Yolanda Bruno, BMus'11, wins First Prize of the Isabel Overton Bader Canadian Violin Competition
Violinist Yolanda Bruno, BMus'11,was awarded the First Prize and the Audience Choice Prize at the inaugural Isabel Overton Bader Canadian Violin Competition, organized by the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts at Queen’s University. This national competition was open to Canadian violinists from the age of 18 to 29. While studying at the Schulich School of Music, she was a violin student of Jonathan Crow.
