Overview

Islamic Studies : Religious and institutional developments from later Mughal and British periods (1707-1947) to present; questions of Muslim identity and separatism; creation of Pakistan - an ideological or a modern state?; evolution of Islamic thought; the traditionalists and modernists; interplay of religion and politics; and the experiment of Islamization and its aftermath.

Terms: This course is not scheduled for the 2011-2012 academic year.
